Industrial electrical work we do
Our industrial work covers new installations, changes as a business grows, and maintenance and repairs when something stops. Typical jobs include:
- Three-phase power circuits, outlets and distribution boards
- Connecting new machinery such as CNC machines, compressors, saws, presses and welders
- Motor control wiring, starters, contactors and variable speed drives
- Machine isolation and emergency stop circuits
- Sub-boards and submains for new work areas or mezzanines
- Warehouse and workshop lighting, including LED high bays
- Extraction fans, dust collection and ventilation equipment
- Roller doors, gates and dock equipment power
- Planned maintenance, thermal imaging and fault finding
Three-phase power and machinery connections
New machines rarely arrive with the supply they need already in place. Before a machine is delivered, we confirm its voltage, full load current, starting characteristics and protection requirements from the manufacturer’s data, then check whether the existing board and supply can carry it. Cable is sized to AS/NZS 3008 for the load, run length and installation method, and every connection includes proper local isolation so maintenance staff can make the machine safe.
Moving or relocating equipment within a factory is just as common. We can disconnect, make safe and reconnect machinery as part of a layout change, working with your riggers and machine suppliers so the equipment is back in production quickly.
Motor control and drives
Motors drive most of what happens in an industrial site: conveyors, pumps, fans, compressors and machine spindles. We install and maintain direct-on-line and star-delta starters, soft starters and variable speed drives, and wire the control circuits that go with them. Variable speed drives can reduce wear and energy use on pumps and fans that do not need to run flat out all the time, and we can advise where that makes sense.
When a motor circuit trips or a drive faults, we work through it systematically: supply, protection, control circuit, drive parameters and the motor itself. That approach finds the real cause rather than resetting and hoping.
Factory and warehouse maintenance
Industrial electrical systems work hard, often in dust, heat, vibration and, on the coast, salt air. Loose terminations, overheating contactors and failing cable glands are common, and they tend to fail at the worst time. A regular maintenance program catches these before they stop production.
Our maintenance work for industrial sites often combines:
- Visual inspection of boards, machine connections and flexible cords
- Thermal imaging of switchboards and motor control gear under load
- RCD testing and test and tag of portable equipment to AS/NZS 3760
- Emergency and exit lighting testing
- Tightening, cleaning and replacing worn components
We can put this on a regular schedule through a maintenance contract, so it happens without you needing to chase it.
Workshops, warehousing and light industrial units
A lot of industrial work on the Gold Coast is in smaller units in areas such as Molendinar, Burleigh, Yatala and Arundel, where a business moves in and needs the tenancy set up for its equipment. That usually means a new or upgraded distribution board, three-phase outlets for machines, better lighting, and power for office and amenities. We also handle warehouse fit-outs where racking, lighting layout, forklift charging and dock equipment all need power in the right place. Our industrial and warehousing page covers the sector in more detail.
Safety and paperwork on industrial sites
Industrial sites have their own risks and site rules. We work to your site induction and permit requirements, provide SWMS for high-risk work, and follow proper isolation and lock-out procedures. On larger or staged projects we can provide ITPs and test records to suit the project’s quality system.
All work is carried out to AS/NZS 3000, and we issue compliance certificates and test results on completion. For machinery, we document isolation points and circuit details so your maintenance staff know exactly what feeds what.
Breakdowns, repairs and pricing
When a machine or a whole section of the plant stops, the priority is getting it running safely. We respond to breakdowns as quickly as we can, and we already know the layout of sites we maintain regularly. Keeping up-to-date circuit schedules and board labelling makes a big difference to how quickly faults can be found.
We provide an upfront written quote for project work, and clear rates for maintenance and breakdowns. What affects cost includes the size and number of machines, cable run lengths and installation method, whether board or supply upgrades are needed, access equipment, and whether work has to happen during shutdowns or outside production hours. Stefan is on the tools and runs the jobs, so you deal with the same person from quote to completion.
