Working from our own backyard
Being based in Mudgeeraba shapes how we work. Small jobs that other electricians might push back because of travel are easy for us to fit in here. A quick look at a tripping safety switch, a couple of extra power points or a replacement light fitting can often be slotted in around larger jobs, because we’re passing through anyway.
It also means we know the suburb’s housing well. Mudgeeraba has a bit of everything within a few streets of each other, and each type of property has its own common problems.
The mix of homes in Mudgeeraba
The old village area still has some older timber homes and small commercial buildings. Around them sit brick and tile homes from the 1980s and 1990s, then newer estates built as the Gold Coast spread west toward the motorway. On the edges, especially toward Bonogin and the Springbrook side, the blocks get bigger and turn into acreage.
- Older village homes can still have original wiring, rewireable fuses and no safety switches. A switchboard upgrade is often the first job.
- 1980s and 1990s homes usually have a ceramic fuse or early circuit breaker board with limited room for new circuits. Adding air conditioning, an induction cooktop or an EV charger often means the board needs work first.
- Newer estate homes are generally in good shape but often need extra circuits, outdoor power and data points that weren’t included at build time.
- Acreage properties have sheds, pumps, long sub-mains and outbuildings, which bring their own set of jobs.
Acreage and rural-residential work
A fair share of our local work is on bigger blocks around Mudgeeraba. Typical jobs include new sub-mains to sheds and granny flats, power to workshops and stables, replacing tired outdoor fittings and fault finding on long underground runs. Cable size matters on long runs, and we select cables to AS/NZS 3008 so voltage drop doesn’t become a problem once the shed is full of tools.
Storms hit the hills around Mudgeeraba hard. Trees coming down on overhead lines, surges through old equipment and water in outdoor boxes all lead to calls after a big summer storm. If you’ve lost power to part of the property, our fault finding service is the place to start.
Local businesses and small commercial jobs
Mudgeeraba has its own village shops, cafes, medical practices and trade businesses, and we look after a number of small commercial jobs close to home. That includes lighting upgrades, extra circuits for equipment, test and tag for workplace appliances and minor fit-out work when a tenancy changes hands. Being local makes it easy to come back out for staged work or after-hours visits so trading isn’t disrupted.
Smoke alarms before 2027
From 1 January 2027 every Queensland home must have photoelectric, interconnected smoke alarms in each bedroom, in hallways connecting bedrooms and on every storey. Plenty of Mudgeeraba homes still have a single old ionisation alarm in the hallway.
